Edge Space

Tiny houses are, well, tiny, and so edge space is a big deal. In hundreds of conversations, we’ve learned that everybody needs skirting and everybody wants decking. So, as part of Foresight’s BuildNext cleantech accelerator, we invented DwellDock™ to level up the lowly pad. Ask any permie: the edge is where it’s at!

Levelling Up the Lowly Pad

The biggest challenge for Tiny House on Wheels (THoW) owners isn’t the house – it’s the hookups: basic campsite pedestals vulnerable to winter freeze-ups. When you pull into your Wheels pad at Big Calm, you aren’t just parking; you are docking. DwellDock™ is a modular, professionally-built utilities interface between your tiny home and our resilient infrastructure.

Sheltered Hookups

A low-rise insulated utility cabinet with a geothermal heat exchanger inside to prevent water and septic lines from freezing.

Exterior Storage

The utility-side shed can be extended to include handy extra storage along the back for seasonal items.

Wraparound Skirting

An insulating and protective barrier around the undercarriage significantly increases energy efficiency and blocks wind/snow.

Floating Deck

Add a deck door-side for an awning, a pet enclosure, or just a couple lounge chairs for stargazing.

DwellDock Questions

Is my tiny house compatible?

DwellDock is designed to be universal (hugging the driver side around the water inlet) and modular (expandable for longer units) for trailer-based THoWs.

Yes. By circulating geothermal-tempered fluid from horizontal loops underground to around your water and waste inlets, DwellDock maintains a modest “warm zone” around them. And in the summer, it does the opposite and cools the connections.

The main 8’x4’ insulated shed module protecting hookups is included with each Wheels pad (~20’x40’ of levelled CORE 50-35 Heavy-Duty water-permeable honeycomb grids with washed gravel). Decking (8’x8’ modules), extended storage (8’x4’ modules), and skirting are optional add-ons.

Yes, of course. The only required DwellDock component is the core utility shed, which is designed specifically for our hookups (including the geothermal heat exchanger).
